Catching up on Monday

I had a fun, busy weekend with my daughter.  Taking care of wedding plans, but today I'm trying to get caught up with the paper work that got put aside.  Love to work in a space like this!

This is a real office from Carrier & Company,  take note of the desk accessories!

Friday favorite, Tocky

If you linger in bed too long, Tocky rolls off your nightstand, refusing to hush until you stabilize it.  Download music or record a greeting.  Colorful silicone "skins" allow you to change Tocky's look.  See more products like this at Nanda Home.  Have a great weekend!

Roman shades

I just love the roman shades in the rooms below.  They add softness and privacy if needed.

Honeymoon winner .....Jumby Bay

I won't need to post any more honeymoon ideas for a while, the lovely couple chose Jumby Bay.  A Rosewood resort in Antigua, West Indes.  Looks perfect!!

From the hotel:
Set on a 300-acre private island, Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort casts a spell of serene enchantment. Nestled two miles off the coast of Antigua, the exclusive resort is noted for its landscape lush with rare tropical flowers, stately palm trees and abundant foliage. A naturalist's haven, the island features three superb, white sand beaches.
Visit the website for many more amazing photos.

Love... Judy Youngblood

Youngblood's work is always about nature. She shapes and stylizes wind and rain and clouds to create the most universal and thought-provoking symbolism. A ceremonial pillar of rain falls from a round - perhaps even mushroom-shaped - cloud and forms an abstract monument, but there is no inherent drama in the image. There is only a clear and vivid statement. Its presence is edgy, yet its surface is velvety and serene.

2.  Morning Showers:  Charcoal and Acrylic on paper, mounted on panel.  18 x 24 inches
3.  April Showers:  Pencil and Acrylic on paper.  10 x 7 1/2 in. image, 17 x 24 paper
4.  Squall:  Relief print, graphite and acrylic paint on paper.  41 x 20.5 inches.

A touch of zebra

I do love a neutral pallet , but a little touch of zebra really helps to add some interest to that look.

A fun way to add whimsy to every type of decor, zebra print is popping all over the place. On pillows, rugs and even upholstery. And with its neutral colors, zebra print is easier to incorporate than you may think. Go ahead, add a little stripe to your life!

Etsy Friday Favorite

I discovered this darling Etsy shop, Melangerie Inc., last week while searching for tote bags.

I just love all of the great things that Melangerie offers and each item is so unique and designed with you in mind.  I picked these 3 because I'd love to have them all for our daughter's wedding.  The tote would be great for "welcome gifts", the dirty laundry would be fun to use at a shower and the Save the Date card is precious!  Do you see a color trend here?  Please visit her Etsy store and see all the lovely things she has.

Honeymoon destination .... Little Dix Bay

Our daughter is thinking of honeymoon options and I think it will be fun to blog about some of her choices and dream destinations.  First off is a Rosewood Hotel, Little Dix Bay in the BVI.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay sits on a crescent-shaped bay on the island of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands. Elegantly appointed accommodations blend unobtrusively into the surrounding landscape and are located steps from the beach. Guests can enjoy a wide array of activities such as diving, snorkeling, watersports and hiking. World-class amenities, including three distinctive dining venues, Sense, A Rosewood Spa®, tennis, fitness facility and children's center, complete the experience.  For more beautiful photos and information check out their site.

Guest room inspiration

Our daughter is getting married in May and is taking her lovely 4 poster iron bed and all of her Anthropologie bedding, so I am going to be re doing this room at some point.  I am very fond of this look.

I usually gravitate to muted, white decor, but this pop of orange is very warm and cheerful.  I'd sure love being a guest in this room!

Clean and simple

We spend a lot of time doing laundry so I think this space should be enjoyable.

The whole point of doing laundry is to clean our garments so I think the space should also be clean and simple.  What is your style?

Doing away with cabinets?

I've been noticing a trend in some of the new kitchens and how they are doing away with upper cabinets.

It is such a nice, clean look, but you have to be a very organized person to keep it looking neat and tidy.  Plus it doesn't hurt to have great dishes to look at.
